TV chef backs Beverley Food Festival
Celebrity chef Raymond Blanc has endorsed Beverley’s annual food festival, which returns for a 13th year on Sunday October 7th. Since starting in 2006 the festival has grown from a collection of 35 stalls to this year, when around 130 food producers and suppliers will be taking part. Mr Blanc told Beverley FM: ““This is a great event and the perfect way to involve local suppliers and farmers to get in front of their community.”
He continued: “I would be keen to know how they get on, having been involved this year. It’s a fantastic event that I am sure will continue to grow and grow.”
This year’s festival will be officially opened at 10am by the Mayor of Beverley, Councillor Bryan Pearson, and will run through until 4.30pm.
Once again, the Food Theatre Marquee will be open to the public, with a host of local chefs ready to whip some ingredients from stall holders into delicious and exciting dishes. As usual, a highlight will be the annual “Ready, Steady, Cook” style competition hosted by BBC Radio Humberside Westenders’, Jonathan Parker and Marcus Heald. This will be followed by the final of the hotly-contested Copper Saucepan Apprentice Chef competition.
