THE BEVERLEY-based East Yorkshire Foodbank is the latest charity to receive a £1,000 donation under Tesco Beverley’s Community Grants Scheme. It holds three weekly sessions in the town – at the Armstrong Centre on Mondays, Toll Gavel Church Wednesdays and Norwood Methodist Church Fridays, all between 2-3pm, as well as others in Hornsea and Bridlington.
Mandy Thomlinson, the foodbank’s Project Manager, told us: ”We are incredibly grateful for the support of Tesco customers voting to help feed local people. A thousand pounds will provide food for many families struggling financially. Tesco also kindly host a permanent food bank donation point which is invaluable year-round community engagement in action.’’ More details here
Tesco also gave a £500 donation to the charity Second Thoughts East Yorkshire to support its Beverley Creamcakes Community Group – a group who have attended the charity’s anxiety management workshops, and have carried on meeting after they ended. The money will go towards paying for refreshments, trips out and social activities for the group.
A final £500 donation went to Mental Health Mates to help its peer support walking group. Tesco Community Grants is currently open for applications from schools, foodbanks, holiday clubs, sports clubs, charities and community groups.
