Local groups in the Beverley area are being urged to apply to become a good cause for a national retailer and benefit from customer spending over a year.

The Co-op’s Local Community Fund opens to new applications from today for a month. Three local causes will be selected for vital financial support from members at the Lincoln Way store: https://co-operate.coop.co.uk/

Potential improvements to pedestrian routes between Eastgate and Armstrong Way in Beverley could be made. Residents in the area are being surveyed over the issue that the pavements are narrow, particularly around the Sun Inn. Various solutions may include improvements to the Friars Lane footbridge, changing traffic flows and maybe introducing traffic lights.

Beverley MP Graham Stuart’s paid tribute to the growing volunteer effort to tidy up the area. Mr Stuart pledged to do his bit for litter-picking as part of this month’s Great British Spring Clean campaign.

The initiative, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, runs from 28th May to 13th June.

The MP praised the Wombles of Beverley for inspiring dozens of people to collect litter and protect the environment.
