A RECENT 10-day police operation has seen more than 45 arrests and drugs with an approximate street value of £150,000 seized by Humberside Police. Operation Galaxy officers executed 13 warrants at properties across the East Riding, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and Hull. Drugs seized were largely from cannabis factories but also included cocaine and amphetamines.
In addition, 100,000 illicit cigarettes and a thousand illegal vapes were recovered in a joint operation with Trading Standards and knives, machetes and zombie knives were also recovered.
A PARK and ride facility will operate from Beverley Racecourse for this year’s Festival of Christmas on Sunday December 11. The first bus will depart from the racecourse at 9am and run every 10 minutes to and from the town centre. The last bus to return to the racecourse will be at 5pm.
The event will see three Victorian Christmas Markets including Saturday Market, Wednesday Market and North Bar host lots of family friendly entertainment as well as a range of market stalls. There will also be festivities taking place at Flemingate.
A POP-UP food bank will be running again at the Masonic Hall in Trinity Lane, Beverley, from December 19-23. Open from 12 noon to 2pm volunteers from the town’s Masonic Lodges will be providing hot meals, soft drinks and tea and coffee. “If you have a child under 18 or are struggling, join us for lunch, no questions asked – just a meal and some company,” said a spokesperson. A special appearance by Father Christmas is planned for December 23.
