There was plenty of activity from Hull FC over the weekend to report on, but we did not want to take any shine away from some special performances from the likes of Beverley RUFC and North Ferriby on Saturday. Hull City are also playing this evening.

Hull FC announce the contract extensions of four first-team players. Firstly, the Black and Whites announced key man Josh Griffin has signed on for another two years. The centre has spent the majority of the season injured and was a big miss as FC slumped towards the season’s end. On Sunday evening Hull announced three further contract renewals, more pressingly it was three homegrown players. Jack Brown and Ben McNamara both have played big roles in the first team this season and will stay for a further two years. Connor Wynne has signed on for an extra year although may not get the minutes next time around after the return of Shaul and Connor from injuries. Finally, from FC, Michael Shenton has been named head of emerging talent at the club. The Super League stalwart announced his retirement from the playing side of the game this season. Shenton joins the Black and Whites to help oversee an exciting youth programme and is also set to coach the club’s reserves and academy teams next season.

Hull City return to action this evening with an opportunity to get only their second victory of the season. City welcome Blackpool to the MKM Stadium. Saturday was disappointing for Grant McCann’s men as they lost 2-0 away at Stoke. Blackpool have had a mixed set of results following promotion from League One.
