Hull Trains has announced the appointment of an East Riding man as its new Managing Director. He will lead the open access rail operator as it rebuilds passenger numbers and services after many months in the sidings during lockdown. David Gibson, a former RAF Wing Commander, told Beverley FM that he’s looking forward to building on the company’s continued journey to recovery and no doubt hopes to have them flying high again in the not-too-distant future. More recently he’s worked in senior roles in local government and at Capita’s Consulting and Transformation Division.

Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre has made it into the final six of a competitive pitch for thousands of pounds worth of badly needed funding. The busy local centre alleviates poverty and social deprivation with an active youth group, advice service, food bank and credit union. £30,000 is up for grabs in a Dragon’s Den style event organised by the Two Ridings Community Foundation. The event takes place in Malton on 14th October. Ticket information online at:  https://dragons-den-2021.eventbrite.co.uk
