THE TEAM behind popular Beverley pub The Tiger Inn, in Lairgate, has announced it’s expanding operations by also taking on The Cornerhouse in Norwood. Tiger licensee Richard Peart says he hopes The Cornerhouse will be open for drinks again by the end of this week while there are big plans going forward to replicate the dining success of The Tiger Inn.

Burton-upon-Trent company Punch Pubs & Co announced back in April they had added The Cornerhouse to its 1,300-strong portfolio of outlets and said then they planned to “invest in internal and external redecoration with new signage, lighting and a new garden landscape”.

YORKSHIRE DAY 2023 will be celebrated in style at Sewerby Hall and Gardens on Tuesday, August 1, when the Yorkshire Declaration will be read by the chairman of East Riding Council, Cllr John Whittle at 11.48am supported by the East Riding Town Crier.

There will be music in The Orangery from The Assembly Line, a unique ukulele band from all over the East Riding, and Morris Dancing in front of the house. In the Edwardian kitchen, there will be traditional Yorkshire recipes from the East Riding Archives and visitors will be able to make their own Yorkshire flag to take away. There will also be a chance to join in the Yorkshire Pudding and Spoon races, and flat cap flipping.
