POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a crash between a motorbike and car near to Beverley Racecourse, which has left the motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries. The accident happened on Sunday morning, around 10.50am on York Road, involving a white Yamaha motorbike and a red Mercedes C Class car.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police told us: “Emergency services attended and the rider of the motorcycle has been taken to hospital to receive treatment for life-threatening injuries,” adding: “Anyone who witnessed this incident or thinks they may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision, please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 174 of 23 April.’

BEVERLEY cocktail bar House of Bevs was forced to close temporarily after a masked intruder broke into the premises on Beckside on Saturday night, stealing spirits, cash and computer equipment. The break-in was discovered when staff arrived to open up on Sunday. Images of the raider, wearing a balaclava, were found on a back-up computer hard drive and have been handed to police. In a post on its Facebook page, House of Bevs says it hopes to open as normal from 4pm this Thursday.
