Beverley’s biggest one-day event of the year, the Festival of Christmas, will be back this year, following last year’s cancellation due to the pandemic. Sunday December 12 is the date chosen and thousands of visitors are expected to experience fine Christmas food and drink, arts and crafts as well as live music, carols and traditional Victorian fairground rides. East Riding Councillor Jane Evison told Beverley FM: “The Beverley Festival of Christmas is one of the flagship events for our region. We are determined to make this year the best festival yet.”

A 26-year-old man has been charged in connection with fires which destroyed two vehicles on Swinemoor Lane and Grove Hill Road, Beverley, on Wednesday September 8. The man was charged with arson with intent to endanger life and arson with criminal damage.

And finally, a man has been charged with the theft of a valuable bike from Saturday Market in Beverley last month. He has been released on court bail pending a later hearing. Pc Callum Cockerill thanked people for responding to appeals following the theft but told us the bike has still not been recovered and urged anyone with information to call the police non emergency number 101.
