HOUSE PRICE in the East Riding have gone down by an average of over £1,000, according to the latest figures from the Land Registry. The data reveals that in February average prices reached £224,157. This was down from £226,068 in January, a decrease of 0.8 per cent. 

Breaking it down for specific types of housing, all prices saw a decrease. Detached houses – Down to £335,398 from £337,139. Semi-detached houses – Down to £207,390 from £209,566.Terraced houses – Down to £165,696 from £167,589. And finally, the average price of a flat was down to £108,114 from £108,952.

BEVERLEY Building Society is appealing for people to donate unwanted books as the latest fund-raising initiative on behalf of its charity of the year, Dove House Hospice. Books left at the society’s offices in Saturday Market are then displayed for others to take in return for a donation. “We are doing so well with the book exchange and all donations go to the Dove House Hospice,” chief cashier Debbie Plaxton told us. The society hopes to raise £12,000 during the year.

HUMBERSIDE Chief Constable Lee Freeman has announced he will be leaving Humberside Police this summer, having been appointed as His Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services. His announcement marks an end to a six-year tenure, which has seen the Force transform from being in ‘special measures’ to being graded Outstanding and assessed as the highest performing Force in the country.
