HUMBERSIDE Police is taking part in a national week of action which aims to support businesses and retailers and reduce business crime. The Force says that each day, across the UK, more than 400 retail workers are the subject of violence and abuse – just for doing their work.
A spokesman told us: “We recognise the impact business and retail crime can have on our key workers and communities and we are committed to taking action,” and continued: “As part of this national week of action, police forces and partners from across the UK will be working together to hold targeted operations in towns and city centres, and raising awareness of business crime in the area.”
THE NEW petrol filling station, Budgens convenience store and Pret A Manger cafe and food shop on the KillingwoldGraves Roundabout, near to Beverley Racecourse, will be opening on Friday November 4. Known as the Beverley West Service Station, job vacancies for general and retail assistants are currently being advertised.
THE HULL & East Yorkshire Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Charity (SANDS) has received a grant of £2,500 from the Maximus Foundation UK to continue its work supporting bereaved parents and families after the loss of a baby. The donation will cover the running costs of the Hull & East Yorkshire Group for the next year and fund the local Sands United Football Team, founded in 2019 by a bereaved brother, to support other men through the love of sport.
