A MAN who spent 33 years helping keep Beverley Minster safe and dry until his retirement last October, is publishing a book about his efforts later this month.

Steve Rial, who lives in Molescroft, has produced “Pride & Pleasure” – a collection of superb photographs and endearing stories revealing his long and dedicated endeavours.

Steve, who was employed as plumber and glazier to the Minster, says readers will embark on an “image journey” showcasing areas of the Minster seldom explored by members of the public. He describes the Minster as “spectacular and magnificent”.

The book will be on sale in the Minster shop from July 26.

A UNIQUE service for people who have lost a child during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy, will be held at St Mary’s Church in Beverley on Sunday July 23, between 4 and 4.30pm. Called “The Butterfly Service”, it’s described as “a gentle service during which we release butterflies in memory of little ones”.

LOCAL MP Graham Stuart has launched a new summer work experience programme for young people, aged 18-23. It will run for three weeks from August 1 at his office in Beverley, working on some of the MP’s Parliamentary activities. More information at www.grahamstuart.com/SummerWorkExperience
