Traffic disruption as sewage works upgrade gets underway
Roadworks lasting four weeks started this week as part of a £27m project to upgrade Beverley’s sewage treatment works. It means traffic lights at the junction of the A1174 and B1230 will be replaced with three-way temporary lights for a month to allow Yorkshire Water to complete a temporary access route off Hull Road to minimise disruption to residents when the upgrade work starts early this summer.
Contractors have been working since November on a temporary route from the sewage works site towards Hull Road and is now ready to complete the final access junction. Seven day working will be carried out to ensure the jobs is completed as soon as possible. In addition, the slip road onto the A1174 from the B1230 will be closed with traffic diverted to the next roundabout.
Yorkshire Water has apologised in advance for any disruption faced by motorists and plans to host a public exhibition in the town next month for residents to find out more and meet the project team.
