Trader wins planning appeal
A Beverley trader’s planning appeal against a decision by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to refuse late night opening for his planned cafe bar, has been upheld by planning inspectors. Atakan Durna, who trades as Pasha Turkish Barber in North Bar Within, had secured permission for a change of use to allow him to open the cafe, but the council rejected an application for late-night opening, instead imposing an 8pm closing time.
Now, as a result of his appeal, Mr Durna will be able to open from 8am to 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday and until 1am on Fridays, Saturdays and Bank Holidays. In his appeal he argued he was being treated differently to nearby premises, including Wetherspoon’s, Lucia’s, East Riding Gin Club, The Beaver and Sheriff Bar. No opening date has yet been given for the new venture.
