Top award at Chelsea Flower Show
Floristry students from Bishop Burton College were crowned Future Florists of the Year at last week’s prestigious Chelsea Flower Show.
They were competing against floristry schools from around the world to take the title. As previously reported by Beverley FM the students’ dazzling floral design incorporated an Indian tuk-tuk covered in flowers and foilage.
Judges said there was a “natural living feeling” to the design, allowing the flora and fauna to become part of the vehicle rather than just adorning it.
Meanwhile, another student, 18-year-old Harry Atkinson, was chosen as runner-up in the Best Apprentice category of the Jewson Young Tradesperson of the Year 2017 awards.
Harry, who is currently studying a Level One Diploma in Bricklaying at Bishop Burton College, was nominated for the award after beginning an apprenticeship with Hull-based construc
