BEVERLEY BRAVES rugby league club, which runs teams for boys and girls aged from under 6 to under 16, is organising a fun run on The Westwood on Saturday July 1, offering a 5-kilometre challenge or a shorter 2.5-kilometre route specially designed for children under 10 years old.
Funds raised will go directly to club projects but in addition, the organisers are extending an invitation to other sports clubs that want to raise money for their club to join in for a nominal fee of £5 per runner with sponsorship retained for their own fundraising initiatives. The day starts at 11am and continues into the afternoon and evening with supporting activities, including a barbecue. For further information contact Neil on 07460898724 or email neilkg@outlook.com
THE SECRET Garden Café on Toll Gavel, Beverley, closed earlier this year by Cooplands, along with other sites in East Yorkshire, is to reopen on July 3 following a takeover by local businessman Christopher Smith.
TOPHILL LOW nature reserve between Beverley and Driffield celebrates 30 years of being open to the public on Sunday, between 10am and 4pm. The reserve will be hosting around 20 partner organisations, with a chance to meet bats, hedgehogs and goats, try and buy binoculars and telescopes, learn about and purchase rare wetland plants, pond dipping and craft activities for children and demonstrations of bird ringing.
Admission is free. The reserve is signposted four miles from the A164 at Watton.
