REGISTRATION is now open for Dove House Hospice’s Make a Will Fortnight, which runs from October 9 – 20 and helps to raise vital funds for the hospice. Organisations across East Yorkshire, including Beverley, are supporting the initiative by waiving their usual fees in return for a donation to the hospice.
To participate in the appeal, simply go to www.dovehouse.org.uk/makeawill to receive your information pack, which contains a full list of participating organisations. Alternatively, call the fundraising team on 01482 785743 or email fundraising@dovehouse.org.uk.
FIRE SERVICE personnel were called out to an incident in Heigholme Lane, Brandesburton, when an HGV lorry collided with overhead power cables. They provided cover with jet hoses whilst Northern Power staff isolated the cables, allowing the lorry to be moved.

TICKETS for the East Riding Festival of Words, which takes place from October 7 to 21, have now gone on sale. As previously reported, it includes events taking place in Beverley. Full details here
SPECIAL EVENTS take place on Saturday September 9 at the Humber Bridge Country Park and Hessle Mill, organised by East Riding Council’s Countryside Access team. They include a family walk with GPS treasure hunting along the route. Full details here
