TOUR OF BRITAIN organisers are urging communities to adorn the landscape with eye-catching art when the UK’s most prestigious cycle race comes to the East Riding next month. The stage starts in Goole on Tuesday September 5 and finishes at Beverley Racecourse.

Creating land art along the route has been a long-running tradition for the event, with a national competition being held for the past five years. This year, community groups, schools, businesses and landowners across the East Riding are being invited to take part, as the search gets underway to find the successor to last year’s winner, the Spike on a Bike hedgehog in Keyworth in Nottinghamshire.

ORGANISERS of Beverley’s first-ever Pride event on Saturday are expecting a capacity attendance at Norwood Park, home of Beverley Rugby Union Club. Gates open at 3pm with main stage entertainment due to get underway at 4.30pm. Admission is free.

WORLD breastfeeding week is being celebrated with “Big Breastfeed” events throughout East Yorkshire, including at Flemingate, Beverley, tomorrow from 10am. Mums, babies, families and friends are invited to attend.
