East Riding Council has responded to a recent Ofsted update on improvements to Children’s Services after being downgraded to inadequate. As we reported last month inspectors acknowledged that the council is working hard to address deficiencies but there are still areas needing improvement. Councillor Victoria Aitken took over as portfolio holder for children and young people’s education, health and wellbeing in a recent cabinet reshuffle. She told Beverley FM that it’s very encouraging to hear that children’s services are moving in the right direction. Inspectors highlighted four areas needing improvement including management action to address drift and delay in child-in-need and child-protection planning.
