The NHS is asking East Riding residents to seek medical attention for non-urgent treatment at local centres, rather than at the area’s main A&E unit at Hull Royal Infirmary. Chief Medical Officer for the hospital’s NHS trust, Dr Makani Purva, told Beverley FM that such patients will be turned away and redirected to their nearest urgent treatment centres in Beverley, Bridlington and other locations. She highlighted that the issue is a combination of increased Covid cases and a rise in people seeking help they had put off during lockdown and tackling backlog of cases on waiting lists. People are asked to call NHS 111 of their local GP if it is clearly not an emergency. Full story from Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust here.
