Northern Rail has told local MP Graham Stuart that they expect to reinstate a full timetable on the Hull to Scarborough line by next May. It follows concerns being raised about existing services through Beverley, which has seen only four trains to Bridlington after 6pm and daytime services reduced from two trains per hour to just one, other than at peak times. In a meeting with Mr Stuart, Northern confirmed services will gradually be returned as driver shortages eased. It also confirmed the footbridge at Beverley railway station is to be replaced and will include integrated lifts to make it easier for disabled passengers to move between platforms. New, evidential-quality, CCTV cameras will also be installed to help clamp-down on anti-social behaviour.

A free park and ride service from Beverley Racecourse will be in operation for both the Festival of Christmas on Sunday, December 12 and the new Made in East Yorkshire Christmas Markets from Monday December 13 until Friday December 17. Residents and visitors will also be able to vote on-line all week for their favourite window display in the town centre.
