WORK will start next month on 300 new homes off Long Lane in Beverley, with the first sales expected to follow by the end of the year. For Bellway Homes, who say their Bishops Gate development will create 60 jobs during the construction phase, the project represents a £3.5 million investment, including £1.3 million in educational contributions, £228,000 towards the construction of a footbridge over the Hull to Scarborough rail line, £400,000 on off-site road improvements and £1.4 million in recreational contributions.
Overall, plans for the area include the provision of new primary school places either at an extended Keldmarsh Primary School or a new primary school on a later phase of the wider site development; new cycle and pedestrian routes; new leisure facilities; and the construction of two spine roads running between Minster Way and Woodmansey Mile.
HULL TRAINS have warned that although services will not be affected this Saturday because of the latest round of industrial action by the RMT Union, Sunday will see a much-reduced service, with only one departure from Beverley (10.51am) and only four in total from Hull. Bank Holiday Monday returns to a normal service with the exception of the 07:27 from London not running.
PEOPLE are being reminded that Yorkshire Water’s hosepipe ban comes into force tomorrow as a result of the prolonged drought. A number of neighbouring police forces have urged people not to call them over breaches of the ban, but to report concerns to the water authority. The hosepipe ban is a “civil matter, not a criminal one,” one said.
