BEVERLEY Indian restaurant Maa, based in Ladygate, is through to the national stages of the Tiffin Cup, an annual competition run in conjunction with constituency MPs to find the best South Asian restaurant in the UK, with money raised going to the charity World Vision.
The MPs invite their constituents to vote and in the case of Beverley & Holderness MP Graham Stuart, Maa’s got more than half the votes cast. One restaurant from every region is then shortlisted and invited to participate in the Grand Final cook-off at the House of Commons. Runners-up locally included Sonali Spice, with restaurants in Hornsea and Beverley.
TRY JANUARY is an initiative by East Yorkshire Council’s adult learning team, giving people the chance to try as many different courses as they like, either at learning centres, including Beverley, or on line. Try Courses are free and include everything from photography to psychology. More details at https://eryc.link/try-jan2023.
