Beverley Mayor Linda Johnson is urging people to nominate their “local
heroes” for a civic award. Nominations can be for relatives, friends, neighbours, organisations, volunteers, shops, carers, doctors; in fact, anyone who has helped you or the wider Beverley community during the pandemic. Cllr Johnson told Beverley FM: “Every year, a couple of local people or organisations that have played an important part in the community life of
Beverley are personally chosen by the Mayor to receive Good Neighbour Awards. This year we want to change that process and open it up to the community.” Up to 10 awards will be made and the closing date for entries is Friday October 1. Full details are available from the town council website

Film-maker Michele Allen spent six months observing life on The Westwood and capturing the experiences of farmers and the cattle who use the pasture land for grazing. Now, the film is to be shown on a continuous loop in Beverley Guildhall on Friday next week, from 10am to 4pm. In it, Zowie Ball, The Westwood’s first-ever female Pasture Warden, is among those featured.
