Thursday 16 November 2023
A special tribute will be made to Beverley FM founder David Fewster at the Flemingate Christmas Lights Switch-On tomorrow evening. David passed away on 18th October 2023 and left an outstanding legacy for his radio station to build on. In his memory all the money raised during the evening from collection boxes, the sale of friendship bracelets and light sticks will go to the Queen’s Centre at Castle Hill Hospital.
Jo Bridgeman, Flemingate’s Marketing and Events Manager and a close friend of David’s, had the idea to raise funds in his memory because the lights switch-on was an event they had worked on together over the years. She said: “David was wonderful. A real friend who contributed so much to the life of Beverley. It was a privilege to work with him.”
Estate Agent Ultralets will have a stall outside their office in Flemingate and money raised from their hot chocolate drink sales will also go to Castle Hill as will donations to collection boxes, bearing a photograph of David. A huge screen will feature highlights of the evening and include a tribute to the Beverley FM founder. The event starts at 5pm, with the light switch-on scheduled for 6.45 pm. More details are listed in this events guide.
On Sunday 19th November our In Touch Religious Magazine Programme presented by Terry Wallis will feature a special selection of sacred music dedicated to David. 8.30 – 9.00am on 107.8FM, online at www.beverleyfm.com or your favourite radio app and smart speaker.
