EAST YORKSHIRE buses are reporting that York Road on Beverley Westwood will be closed to traffic from March 28 to April 7 to allow the replacement of the cattle grid near to the racecourse. During the closure the diversion route for services will be via North Bar Without, New Walk, Molescroft, Malton Road and Dog Kennel Lane.

The company also warns that Lairgate will be closed to traffic from 9am to 2.30pm next Wednesday, March 22, to allow the replacement of a manhole cover. During the closure the diversion route for services that would normally use Lairgate will be via Keldgate, Flemingate, Armstrong Way, Railway Street and New Walkergate to the bus station. Services from Beverley Bus Station are not affected.

CIRCUS promoter Tony Hopkins celebrates 40 years in the business by bringing a show to the town next week. Circus Montini brings its big top to the Westwood from next Wednesday to Sunday. Tony told us: “The show is made up of a fantastic array of really top artistes, including a stunning unicyclist from Argentina, jugglers and some brilliant break-dancers from Hungary, the amazing contortionist Stefany Narballes, a huge star in Cuba, and, of course, includes clowns.” 

Showtimes are 7pm Wednesday-Friday, 2pm, 4pm and 6.30pm on Saturday and 12.30pm and 3pm, Sunday. Full details here

NORTHERN are reminding rail passengers to check before travelling today and again on Saturday as services are likely to be affected by strike action. Hull Trains, however, have confirmed their services will not be affected.
