THE DEFENCE School of Transport at Leconfield is to host this year’s Beverley Armed Forces Day celebrations on Saturday July 1 after being staged in Saturday Market, Beverley, for several years. A bigger-than-ever event is planned with a wide range of activities and displays for all age groups, including families.

Highlights include the Silver Star Parachute Display Team, live music, military displays and vintage vehicles, military and police bands, Veterans’ parade, archery and assault course, various children’s activities and street food stalls. The event runs from 10am to 4pm, is free to attend with a free return bus service running from Beverley. Car parking is available on site for £5 per car.

PLANS to build two blocks of three terraced houses on land in Grayburn Lane, Beverley, following the demolition of an existing house and associated outbuildings will be discussed at next Tuesday’s meeting of Beverley Town Council’s planning committee. It’s expected that applicants Simon Wride Homes will address the committee about amendments to the original plans, which the Town Council objected to on the grounds of overdevelopment of the site and being out of keeping with the area.

AS PART of this weekend’s Beverley Folk Festival a charity “buskathon” will take place on Saturday and Sunday outside the Angel Inn from 9am each day. Buskers are invited to turn up and take part with proceeds in aid of Beverley-based Go Kids Go – the leading provider of free wheelchair skills training for children in the UK.
