CONFIRMATION that nationally-renowned Indian street food chain Mowgli are to open in Beverley later this year has come with the news from commercial property agents Garness Jones that they’ve completed on the deal for the former Solita Restaurant in North Bar Within.
“We’re excited to welcome a new street food vendor, adding to the exiting food offering Beverley has,” a spokesman told us, adding that a summer opening is possible. Mowgli founder Nisha Katona gave up her 20 year career as a full-time barrister to build Mowgli Liverpool in 2014 and opened Manchester Mowgli less than a year later. To date there are a total of 17 restaurants and Nisha was made an MBE in the 2019 New Year Honours list for services to the food industry.
AVERAGE house prices in the East Riding have jumped by 61 per cent in the past decade, according to figures from the Office of National Statistics released this week. They went from £142,330 in 2013 to £228,840 by January of this year – an increase of £86,510.
Average prices across the UK rose from £167,716 to £290,000 – a gain of 73 per cent. In Hull, prices rose from £90,390 to an average of £138,390 in 2023.
TELECOMS company KCom say their fibre network upgrade in Beverley starts this month and when complete later in the year Beverley will be the first mainland town in the UK to have a full fibre landline phone network.
