Motorists and local residents face major disruption with the closure of roads and Beverley Bus Station later this month. First, Northern Gas Networks will begin work to replace ageing metal pipework under roads around the Minster from Monday February 21.

The upheaval will begin on Minster Moorgate and take 10 weeks to complete. The company says it will need to introduce the following road closures for safety reasons: Minster Moorgate: February 21 –  April 4, St John Street: March 14 – April 1, Minster Yard North: March 21–  April 8, Highgate: March 28 – April 29, Minster Yard South: April 4 – April 22. Diversions will be in place.

And East Yorkshire Buses have announced the closure of the town’s bus station from February 28 while major works are carried out on the road surface. The company says it is currently unable to say how long the closure will be in force but have announced the location of various temporary stops for specific services which can be viewed here.

And finally, a 28-year-old Cottingham man is to appear at Hull Crown Court next month charged with four counts of burglary, which happened in Cottingham and Beverley last week. Jacob Ashford, of Finkle Street, was already due to appear before Beverley Magistrates next week on other charges after a tablet computer and £90 in cash were stolen from Cottingham Tandoori in May last year. During the incidents last week, it’s said an individual gained access to a number of business premises taking cash, electronics and hair appliances.
