Taxi rank planned at Flemingate
A taxi rank looks set to be provided on Armstrong Way in Beverley to serve people visiting the town’s Flemingate Centre. It would operate on evenings and weekend afternoons and follows a plea to East Riding Council from local taxi operators.
An interim report from council officers is in favour; saying existing provision is inadequate and would reduce the need for people to walk back into the town centre to queue for a cab. It is proposed an existing loading bay on Armstrong Way would be used on evenings and weekend afternoons, while the loading facility would be retained at other times.
If the council’s Cabinet supports the suggestion it will then go out for public consultation. Flemingate manager Graham Tait said they were supportive of the idea and said footfall to the centre had been increasing steadily over a number of months.
