Take-off for aviation-themed cafe
A new aviation-themed vintage cafe bar is due to open in Beverley next month. It’s the idea of former air hostess Lucie Mountain and will occupy the Wednesday Market premises that were formerly the home of The Beehive. Lucie will be joined in the venture by her mum Jayne, who is leaving her job as cabin services supervisor for Eastern Airways, based at Humberside Airport.
Called The Cockpit Cafe, Lucie describes it as a quirky destination for people to escape to. She plans cocktails from around the world served from a drinks trolley and labelled with luggage tags. There will also be food from different cultures as well as more traditional offerings. Twenty staff are currently being recruited, including a mixologist.
