Surgeon ‘humbled’ by Royal honour
Beverley surgeon Professor Nick Stafford has been talking about the progress being made by the Daisy Appeal, which he founded, to build a new £7.2 million radiochemistry and cyclotron centre at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham, which will revolutionise the treatment of patients with cancer, heart and neurological conditions, including Alzheimer’s.
The appeal has previously raised 12 and a half million pounds for other projects and is now well on the way to achieving its latest goal and Prof Stafford told Beverley FM that construction ground works have already started with a view to having the new centre operational by August or September next year.
He also said he had been surprised and humbled by the award of an OBE in the New Year’s Honours list, which was presented to him by Prince William at a recent investiture.
