Start date on £10m care village
Work is due to start in the next few weeks on a new £10 million care village on the site of the former Keldgate Manor care home in Beverley. To be operated by the Leeds-based Springfield Health Care Group, it is due to open in summer 2018 and will boast facilities including a spa, cinema, gym and bistro.
Around 100 jobs are expected to be created by the development, which will include a 79-bed dementia care facility and 16 apartments, plus facilities for respite care and accommodation to help rehabilitate people leaving hospital. There are also plans to transform five properties in Keldgate into independent living accommodation for adults with a learning or physical disability.
Springfield say an archaeological evaluation was recently carried out on the site, during which some medieval pottery was found.
