Deadline Day is May 5th
THERE is less than TWO weeks left to spend old paper £5 notes before they lose their legal tender status.
From Friday May 5, the old fashioned fiver will no longer be accepted in shops, with the new polymer note replacing it.
The old £5 note will no longer be accepted by shops from May 5, 2017.
Last month, The Bank of England warned that there are still around 160 million old style notes still in circulation.
But what happens if you’re left with an old note after May 5?
Some banks, building societies and The Post Office may still accept paper £5 notes after May 5, but this is at their own discretion.
The Bank of England will exchange them. To find click HERE
