VOUCHERS for East Riding families receiving free school meals will continue through the Easter holidays, councillors have heard. East Riding Council’s Cabinet heard extra cash left over from funds to help households would be used to fund the scheme.
Children and Young People’s Portfolio Holder Cllr Victoria Aitken said the continuation of funding was a positive step for families on the free school meals programme. It comes as councillors also heard more than 8,050 children from 7,423 families were getting free school meals as of December.
TICKETS have gone on sale for this year’s Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival, with concerts at venues throughout the town, including the Minster, Toll Gavel Church, East Riding Theatre and Beverley Memorial Hall. The festival runs from Friday May 26 to Sunday May 28.
Festival Director Dr Delma Tomlin told us: “We are delighted to be returning to the beautiful town of Beverley for this annual celebration of music and history. This year’s theme is Sacred and Profane, celebrating music from the medieval to the baroque.” And she continued: “We’re especially thrilled to be joined by The Tallis Scholars, currently marking their 50th anniversary. The Tallis Scholars have appeared in Beverley many times, and Beverley Minster provides the perfect setting for their concert.” More details here
