DETAILED plans have been lodged for a development of more than 130 affordable homes on land north of Minster Way in Beverley. House-builder Strata has submitted a reserved matters application to East Riding Council for a 10.2 acre site. It will be the third phase of a wider housing scheme, with construction of Phase 1 underway and Phase 2 expected to begin shortly.
The application seeks approval for the construction of 136 properties, all of which will be affordable housing units. The project would comprise semi-detached, detached and terraced housing, with a mix of two- and three-bedroom units. The plans also include a central area of public open space.
A planning statement submitted as part of the application said the proposed development would “significantly contribute to the provision of affordable homes” and address a “historic shortfall”. A hybrid application was approved in January 2019 granting full planning consent for 325 and outline permission for a further 575 homes and a park-and-ride.

THE VICAR of St Mary’s Church, the Rev Becky Lumley, is warning people of a current scam circulating in an email that purports to be from her, asking recipients for help and asking them to reply to a specific address. “Please note there is a scam going around which looks like it is from me or the church. It isn’t, it’s a scam,” she says.
