Police have told Beverley FM that they’ll be ramping up an operation to crack down on crime in East Yorkshire over the next few weeks in a bid to continue to disrupt and dismantle criminality. Operation Galaxy has brought together different police teams across the force to coordinate intelligence and crime-busting raids. Officials told us that this intensification period will target criminals involved in organised crime, drug-related offences, violence, robbery, burglary and anti-social behaviour. The Government is reminding working families in East Yorkshire that they can access tax-free help to pay for their childcare costs over the summer. It’s called ‘Tax-Free Childcare’ and provides a top-up for working parents to help pay for accredited holiday clubs, childminders or sports activities over the school summer holidays. Parents and carers can check their eligibility and register for Tax-Free Childcare via GOV.UK.

It’s the final day of a fundraising sale by the Beverley based Jacob’s Well Appeal. You’re promised great bargains, at a pound or less, by visiting their warehouse on Swinemoor Lane, behind Aldi, between 9am and 1pm. Organisers told us they’ve been so overwhelmed with donations during lockdown, when charity shops were closed, that they have no room left and need to clear some space. All proceeds help to fund the cost of sending containers of vital supplies to communities in crisis overseas. More details about the charity can be found here
