The organisers of the Beverley Westwood parkrun say they’re disappointed but not surprised that the return of the weekly event’s been delayed. The national parkrun team had hoped to allow the resumption of the five-kilometre run on Saturday 5th June if the majority of events were given permission. At this stage, the Westwood run had not been cleared to resume. The next planned date will be 26th June.

A campaign to raise the awareness of fraud, how to spot the signs and avoid becoming a victim, has been launched by the region’s Police and Crime Commissioner. In the Humberside Police area,  more than 7,400  victims lost £13.8 million in 201-/20. The new campaign, Say No To Fraud, features the real stories of local victims.

A scheme to donate books to struggling families in the Beverley area is being launched. The Community Book Pledge, which will run to the end of June, asks people to pledge a donation for books to be distributed by the Cherry Tree Centre and the East Yorkshire Food Bank. The organisers say it’s been set up because of the importance of books and reading to a child’s future development.
