Beverley firefighters are among fundraisers who’re cycling to all 32 fire stations in the Humber region within 24 hours in aid of Mind. They were due to set off at sunrise today and will finish at the Beverley station tomorrow. 13 riders from all parts of the Fire Service are hoping to cover 435 kilometres today. They will raise at least £3,800 for Hull and East Yorkshire Mind.

According to their Justgiving page, the ultra cycle was last completed 25 years ago by seven staff: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hfrsultracycle-2021?utm_source=Sharethis&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=hfrsultracycle-2021&utm_campaign=pfp-email&utm_term=71738b6ac6174eaa9acd41b85d96e3f8

Anglers in East Yorkshire have been warned that officials are checking that they have valid licences, as the new coarse fishing season opens. Across Yorkshire, between March and June, patrols saw 2400 anglers and 161 were reported for offences.

East Riding councillors will be urged to support the big tree planting exercise to mark the Queen’s platinum anniversary next year. The full council meeting next week at Bridlington will be asked to make sure that town and parish councils and community groups are invited to join in the Queen’s Green Canopy. The tree-planting campaign is due to start in October.
