A WOODMANSEY man has been remanded in custody on firearms and drugs charges. Police told us 29-year-old Joshua Simmons was arrested at a property in Woodmansey earlier this week and has been charged with three counts of possessing a firearm without a certificate, possession with intent to supply cocaine and handling stolen goods. 

On entering the property, a number of firearms and a quantity of Class A drugs were recovered, police told us. Simmons, who remains in custody, will appear at Hull Crown Court next month.

THE Community Safety Fund launched by Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Evison last year is now open for a new round of applications for funding community projects. It’s designed to kick-start projects that will cut crime and anti-social behaviour and improve residents’ feelings of safety. 

The fund can provide grants of between £500 and £35,000 and is open to non-profit organisations, charities, community groups and social enterprises together with Town and Parish Councils.
