Litter-picking campaigners in Beverley have been given a further boost by a retailer in the town.
As the Wombles of Beverley celebrate their second anniversary, the Co-op on Lincoln Way now has a stock of litter pickers and bags to hire out to the public. They’ve also awarded the Wombles a second community donation of £200 for more equipment and to help with set-up costs for the newly-official group. The Wombles have gradually expanded to several villages around Beverley and are collecting dozens of bags of rubbish each week.

A 75 year old fundraiser from Beverley is to repeat a cycling challenge that he first achieved some nine years ago, to raise money for Christian Aid, which is also 75 this year. John Turner is to cycle 75 miles as part of Christian Aid Week in May. The cause is campaigning for climate change and helping projects in Africa to create dams to preserve water. John has set up a fundraising page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/John-Turner75
