A former Beverley businessman’s starting a 15 year jail sentence after being convicted of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. Karl Pettitt, who’s 52, formerly of North Bar Without, was sentenced yesterday at Hull Crown Court. Police said the antiques dealer, who’d had premises in North Bar Within, funded a lavish lifestyle by selling drugs to the most vulnerable in society. 

Two Beverley area councillors have been named in the top team of new East Riding Council leader, Jonathan Owen. Kerri Harrold of Woodmansey takes on the portfolio of Public Health and Tackling Inequality while David Elvidge of Beverley joins the Cabinet to cover Community Involvement and the Voluntary Sector.  

Bus company East Yorkshire says nearly all of its routes will return to normal timetables from Monday. Bus travel had slumped by 90% in the first weeks of the pandemic but services continued to help key workers.. From Monday, more seats will be available on board, with only rear facing and sideways seating out of use.  Passengers should wear face coverings.
