Flemingate’s owners say the decision by Sports Direct and USC to sign a long-term lease is a major vote of confidence in Beverley retail. Work to fit out the former Outfit shop out is due to begin later this month, with the store expected to open in August.Sports Direct and USC will occupy a 10,000 square foot store, one of the largest at Flemingate.

Police have praised the Farmwatch community in East Yorkshire following the convictions of three men for offences under the Game Act. The trio from Manchester, aged 29, 63 and 64, were fined £760 each for wildlife crimes at Spaldington in February where the National Police Air Support Unit was used to catch them.   Three dogs and a vehicle were also seized.

The national organisers of the weekly five-kilometre parkrun say they’ll have to wait until the Prime Minister announces the next stage of the COVID recovery on Monday before confirming they can resume. This week the Beverley Westwood event was finally given the go-ahead to re-start a fortnight today and yesterday the national body confirmed the majority of runs had been given permission. Parkruns were halted in March 2020.
