ADDITIONAL increases in Council Tax bills for East Riding residents have been revealed following yesterday’s announcement of a maximum 4.99% increase by East Riding Council that will add an extra £80.68 a year to Band D properties. It’s now been revealed that a 5.9% increase in the Humberside Police precept will add an additional £14.99 per year.
The Humberside Police and Crime Panel approved the increase along with the Force’s annual budget, which includes plans to place 24-hour response teams in every town, more CID officers and more officers for the roads policing unit and the domestic abuse investigation and safeguarding teams.
Additional increases for Humberside Fire Service and for town and parish councils are still to be announced.
THE GEORGIAN courtroom at Beverley Guildhall is to host a concert by a string quartet of some of the finest musicians in the East Riding. Organised by the Georgian Society for East Yorkshire in partnership with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Museums Service, it will take place on Thursday March 30. Full details here
FASHION On A Plate is the title of a new exhibition opening today in Beverley Treasure House; showcasing favourite tableware brands from the 1950s, including Meakin, Beswick and Ridgway, whose stylish monochrome Homemaker range was sold in Woolworths stores.
