THIS WEEK sees the launch of the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards for 2023, the REYTAs, organised by tourism body VHEY – Visit Hull and East Yorkshire – and culminating in an awards ceremony in Hull in November. Now in their 13th year, the REYTAs, are held in association with the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence and eligible regional winners will be automatically put forward for judging in the national awards.
There are 16 categories in total, including B&B and guest house of the year, pub and hotel of the year, restaurant of the year as well as awards for the best tourism event and visitor attraction. THE £2 BUS FARE cap, due to have ended yesterday, has been extended until the end of October, the Government’s transport secretary has announced. And from November 1, the scheme will continue for a further 12 months with fares capped at £2.50.
TWO BEVERLEY restaurants are through to the finals of this year’s English Curry Awards, competing in the category for the Customer Experience of the Year in the Yorkshire and Humber region. They are Maa Indian Restaurant, of Ladygate, and Sonali Spice, of New Walkergate, and they will be up against eight other restaurants at the awards ceremony in Birmingham on August 14.
