Rugby League: Hull FC v Hull KR in pre-season clash
Hull FC will prepare for the 2018 Betfred Super League campaign with two warm-up matches at the KCOM Stadium against city rivals Hull Kingston Rovers and Catalans Dragons. The Black and Whites will lock horns with the Red and Whites on Sunday 14th January at the KCOM Stadium (kick-off 2pm) and will once again battle it out for the Clive Sullivan Trophy.
The derby clash will once again be played in honour of former player for both sides Clive Sullivan MBE, who amassed 352 appearances for Hull and 213 games for Hull KR. The match will also celebrate Danny Houghton’s Testimonial year and Hull FC will be making a donation to his testimonial fund from their proceeds from the game in recognition of his service to the club over the last decade.
A week later, the back-to-back Challenge Cup winners will then welcome the Dragons to the KCOM Stadium on Sunday 21st January (kick-off 2pm) in their final warm-up match. The two sides met three times in 2017, with Hull defeating the French side on their road to Wembley where they went on to retain the Cup for the first time in their history.
The Dragons are now coached by former Hull FC player Steve McNamara who will lock horns with former team mate Lee Radford for the first time as coaches. Tickets for the warm-up match against Hull KR will go on sale on Monday 18th December and will be available to buy from the club’s retail stores, by calling the ticket office on 01482 505 600 or online from www.ticketing.hullfc.com
It won’t be the only action that the Black and Whites first-team squad will face in pre-season though, with training ground matches against high profile Championship sides Leigh Centurions and Toronto Wolfpack also lined up during January. A number of other familiar faces could be involved in those sessions too with former players Jordan Thompson and Craig Hall now at Leigh, whilst fan favourite Richard Whiting is in the ranks at Toronto.
Hull FC kick-off their 2018 Super League season on Thursday 1st February at home to Huddersfield Giants.
