Rugby League: Great start for Hull FC
Hull FC 38 – 12 Huddersfield Giants (Thursday February 1)
Hull FC got their Super League campaign off to a fine start at the KCom, scoring 34 unanswered points either sided of half-time to kill off the Giants.
A Fetuli Talanoa hat-trick helped Hull FC to their fifth opening round victory in a row. But a slow start for the hosts had seen the Giants take a 10-4 lead in the game, with Lee Radford’s side looking sluggish in the early stages.
Huddersfield led 12-10 at half-time – it was Albert Kelly’s touch down for the Black & Whites just before the hooter that set the tone for what came next.
Marc Sneyd had booted Hull’s other first period points and his kicking game was pivotal to the comeback.
The Black & Whites came out storming after the break, as winger Talanoa touched down three times in just 16 minutes to claim the two points on the first night of the season. Jake Connor and Jamie Shaul were the other try scorers.
