Rugby League: Blue & Golds’ fixtures revealed

The fixtures for to the 2018 campaign for Rugby League’s National Conference Division 3 have been released and newly-promoted Beverley ARLFC will kick-off their season at home to Cumbrian outfit Barrow Island on February 24th.

It’s the start of things to come for the Blue & Golds face an awful lot of travelling! There are no other East Yorkshire sides providing local derbies and indeed, there are only three trips within Yorkshire as a whole in the shape of Eastmoor Dragons, Stanley Rangers and Dewsbury Celtic.

The Lancastrian contingent is made up of Clock Face, Blackbrook, Woolston Rovers, Waterhead Warriors, Oldham St Annes and Salford City Roosters. Cumbrian opposition is provided by Millom and Barrow Island whilst Gateshead Storm fly the flag for the North East.

Notable dates include include the longest trip to Millom on May 12th. A week later they make the trip up the A1 to face Gateshead Storm and the second trip to Cumbria to face Barrow Island happens on August 11th. They will wrap their regular league campaign on September 15th at home to Oldham St Annes although involvement in promotion play-offs could possibly extend the season.

Meanwhile it has been a time of feverish activity for club officials at Beverley ARLFC. Perimeter fencing and dug-outs have had to be procured to specifications acceptable to both the NCL and the East Riding Council.

Pre-season training has been underway for several weeks at Anytime Fitness and the Longcroft 3G. Duncan O’Connor and Pat Howdle have been in control and they have now been joined by Head Coach Scott Taylor fresh from World Cup duties in Austrailia. He said: ”The numbers have been the best we have ever had in recent seasons and the lads are really stepped up to the plate. There is a real buzz about the place at the moment and the release of the fixtures and the draw for the Challenge Cup just raised the bar a bit more. We hope to confirm a pre-season friendly shortly on January 20th a week ahead of the Challenge Cup Tie at Shaw Cross.”
