Road closure warning
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is reminding motorists that work will begin on Monday 10 July, 2017, on the reconstruction of the Humber Bridge roundabout, to be followed by improvements to the A15 slip road to the A63. The scheme follows the earlier completion of improvement work on the Howden Spur road off Junction 37 of the M62.
All three schemes, totalling £850,000, are being carried out on behalf of the council by Britcon Ltd, with funding from the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund and the Department for Transport. All the phases of the work are expected to be completed by mid August.
The work on the Humber Bridge roundabout and approach lanes is expected to start on Monday, 10 July and is expected to last around four weeks. It will involve renewing the road surface and replacing the existing surface with a highly skid resistant and quieter surface material.
During this phase of the work, road closures will be in place – the A164 to Beverley will be closed for five nights (between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday) with a diversion route via Boothferry Road, Jenny Brough Lane and Tranby Lane. The exit road from the Humber Bridge will also be closed at the roundabout for a separate period of five nights during the works. Northbound traffic will be diverted through the Country Park car park and Ferriby Road.
The final phase of the resurfacing work will then take place on the slip road entering the A63 at North Ferriby with the same treatment as the other sites. This will require the closure of the High Road junction into North Ferriby with all traffic (except emergency vehicles) diverted along the A63 to the Melton junction and into the west end of North Ferriby. This closure is anticipated to be for five nights. The dates of this closure will be advertised in due course.
