Rodney Collins

What show do you present and when?

At the moment I have three programmes all running on Sundays! One is overnight at 4am, another is the main show I do at 10pm. In between, we have a show called Gene Pitney and Friends at 6pm (which also gets repeated through the week)

What do you love most about being at Beverley FM?

I’ve been in this business longer than most! I love the enthusiasm for the station that shows through in all the broadcasts – and I love the fact that every week I get lots of requests from local people living in what is one of the jewels of East Yorkshire, Beverley!

If you could travel anywhere you haven’t already been, where would it be?

Well, I went to the States when I was 19 working for Billboard Magazine – a trade paper out there – and I always said I’d go back and never have. Also, having worked for Radio Luxembourg for fourteen years I loved the little Grand Duchy. The first time I went there was in the early 70s working on the Jimmy Young Show on Radio 1… we visited six EEC countries in six days. But places I haven’t been? I really don’t know.

Where’s your favourite place in East Yorkshire?

I genuinely think Beverley – it’s just a lovely market town.

What’s your favourite comfort food?

Real steak pie but I love seafood, too.
